Bilimora Vibhag Kelvani Mandal (pronounced as “BVKM”) was established in the year 1957 as a public education society registered under society’s act 1950. Land measuring 14 acres was donated by a Parsi gentlemen Sheth Manchersa Burjorji Mengushi for educational purpose and the campus developed on this land is known as ‘Mengushi Park’. The campus has commanding location with state highway on one side and Kaveri river on the other side. All the institutes situated in campus are either affiliated to there apex body and some of them do get government grants, others are self-financed. Two colleges namely V.S. Patel College of Arts and Science and Shree Rang Shikshan Mahavidhyalaya have been allotted B grade and A.V. Patel Commerce College have been allotted C grade by the National Assessment Accreditation Council (NAAC) Bangalore. In all there are at present about 8000 students studying in the campus under 225 qualified and experience teachers and faculties who not only give theoretical teaching to the students but also keep them abreast about various engineering technology and practical knowledge. The non-teaching staff consists of 90 members. Most of the students attending these institutions come from the area surrounding Bilimora with population of about 4, 50,000. The campus has schools and colleges such that if a child is admitted for studies at kindergarten level, it can continue its studies up to post-graduate level and in some cases up to Ph.D. level. At present there are about 70 members of the society of different categories. Committees are formed for management of institutions of the B.V.K.M. from among the members by holding election once in three years by fully democratic manners as per the policy laid down by constitution of B.V.K.M. Pioneers of the Mandal Late Shree Vitthalbhai S. Patel was the founder President of the Mandal and Shree I.B. Naik was the Secretary of the Mandal. Late Shree Vijaybhai Patel, Shree Gokaldas Intwala, Shree Fakirchand Shah, Shree Manibhai Naik, Shree Dahybhai Mistry, Shree Makrand Sardesai, Shree Kantidev Patel, Shree Jamshedji Gabba, Shree M.C. Bilimoria, Shree Manubhai S. Amin, Shree Khandubhai M. Mistry, Shree Jaysukhbhai Mistry and Shree Lallubhai Bulsara were the pioneers in the initial development and progress of the Mandal. They put the Mandal on strong footing and laid foundation for further development.
