Bilimora Vibhag Kelavni Mandal, Bilimora
Bilimora Vibhag Kelvani Mandal (hereafter known as “BVKM” or the Society) is a public education society. It was founded in the Year 1960 with the purpose of giving education to pupils without discrimination of caste, creed or nationality. It was registered under society’s act 1950 vide Registration No. F/70/Surat 1958, F/21/Valsad and F/8/Navsari and is exempted from income-tax under the clause 80G of income tax act of the Government of India (Both the certificates will be available to the prospective donors on request.) At present there are about 100 members of the society of different categories. Committees are formed for management of institutions of the B.V.K.M. from among the members by holding election once in three years. The land, for the campus, measuring about Sixteen acres was received by way of donation. The campus has a commanding location with state High way on one side and river on the other. An Arts and Science College was first started by this society in the year 1961, which was then affiliated to Gujarat University and later to South Gujarat University. Within next 10 to 15 years or so Teachers Training College and a Commerce College came into existence. In due course of time the arrangement for Pre-Primary, Primary, Secondary, and Higher Secondary Schools was also made in the same campus. The Educational institutions started on this campus by the society are shown in the margin of this paper in a chronological order with the year of establishment. Thus a child admitted for studies at the age of three years can continue his/her studies up to post graduate and Research degree level while remaining in the same campus. In all there are at present about 8000 students studying in the campus under 225 teachers. The non teaching staff consists of 90 members. Most of the students attending these institutions come from the area surrounding Bilimora with population of about 4,50,000. All these institutions are affiliated or are recognized by their apex bodies. Some of them are eligible for government grant while others are self financed. The society has raised all these educational institutions one by one stepping with the need of the time. Since last five years or so the rapid changes all over the world in every walk of life together with the globalization policy of the government of India, the subject demand for training the students has significantly changed. The dynamic and foresighted management of the society stopped expanding stereotype institutions and started the institutions which provide the education in Information Technology and equip the students with sound knowledge of English language, accordingly the Institute of Computer Application and a school with English Medium are founded. The Institute of Computer Application is self financed and thus will not receive any grant from the Government. The courses of the institute were started in the year 2000.
